God’s Word or Man’s Words and Experience: Introduction

God’s WORD

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”—1 John 5:20

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”—John 20:31

Biblical or Not Biblical: The Importance of God’s Word
The Bible, God’s Word, tells us we can know that we know God. Other belief systems base their ‘knowledge’ of what they call “God”, the All, Ultimate Reality, Divine, etc., through experience, man’s words and traditions—all which require effort or works on the part of men and women, rather than faith in the LORD Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for our sins.

God’s WORD

“…for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”
    —Psalm 138:2

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”—John 1:1

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”—Hebrews 11:3

“And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.”
    —Deuteronomy 4:12

“…Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.“—Deuteronomy 32:46

“…he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites…and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren …”—Deuteronomy 17:18–20

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”—John 14: 23

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.”—1 John 2:5

“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.”—Revelation 19:13

Just the BOOK Blog
The intent of this blog is to compare what is said and done in the so-called Christian world with what is written in the Bible. As I research, I am amazed at the unbiblicalness of people, books and organizations that have been touted as Christian, and the tendency to focus on “experience” and things one does, as a confirmation factor in one’s search or walk to get “close” to God.

The next several posts are background information for research I have been doing. These background posts will discuss some words and phrases (foreign to the Bible), and some people that have promoted unbiblical ideas down through the centuries.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

“For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”—Romans 16:17, 18
