The Real Presence in the Eucharist: Evangelization of America through Culture

God’s WORD

“…The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

“But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

“…The servants said unto him [the householder], Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

“But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest…”—Matthew 13:24–30

“But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling-
block, and unto the Greeks foolishness;”—1 Corinthians 1:23

This post compares the quotes of the Pope and others regarding the Roman Catholic Church’s evangelization through culture goal (which they have
had for at least 1500 years) with quotes of Christian/Biblical Worldview folk/organizations and family/morals/values folk/organizations, which
seem to have a political agenda.

from Ecclesia in America: The Way to Conversion, Communion and Solidarity in America, Pope John Paul II, Mexico, 1999

    The evangelization of culture
    70. …the Synod Fathers rightly felt that the new evangelization calls for a clearly conceived, serious and well organized effort to evangelize culture”. 264

In America, the mestiza face of the Virgin of Guadalupe was from the start a symbol of the inculturation of the Gospel, of which she has been the lodestar and the guide.

Through her powerful intercession, the Gospel will penetrate the hearts of the men and women of America and permeate their cultures, transforming them from within. 266

from the Discourse to the Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for Culture, John Paul II, January 1987

    5. This leads me…to insist upon…a central objective in our work…inculturation (newly-coined word)…

When the Church enters into contact with cultures, she must welcome all that is compatible with the Gospel…to be enriched herself by the manifold wisdom of the nations of the earth…inculturation commits the Church to a path that is difficult, but necessary…

Redemptoris missio, On the permanent validity of the Church’s missionary mandate Ioannes Paulus PP. II December 1990

Incarnating the Gospel in Peoples’ Culture
    52. inculturation “means the intimate transformation of authentic cultural values through their integration in Christianity and the insertion of Christianity in the various human cultures.”85 …

Through inculturation the Church makes the Gospel incarnate in different cultures…She transmits to them her own values…Inculturation is a slow journey…

    53. Missionaries…must immerse themselves in the cultur[e]..evangelizing the culture of the environment in which they are working…

    54. …inculturation must be guided by two principles: “compatibility with the gospel and communion with the universal Church.“94

…In effect, inculturation must involve the whole people of God…The safeguarding of traditional values is the work of a mature faith.

Religious Cleansing, Keith Fournier (Roman Catholic Deacon), 1993

It is essential for Christians of the twentieth century and the beginning of a new millennium…to contend once again for the culture…to rescue a civilization which is heading toward barbarism. p. 6

Defending the First Right and First Freedom: A Call for Collaboration, Deacon Keith Fournier, 2004

For decades I have tried in my own little way to take the social teaching of the Catholic Church and offer it as a resource for building a culture of life, family, freedom and solidarity. This beautiful teaching is not just for Catholics, other Christians or even other people of faith but intended for all men and women.

Good News, Bad News: Evangelization, Conversion and the Crisis
of Faith
by C. John, III McCloskey, Russell Shaw, 2007

“So now we face the need to do again what our forebears in the faith did all those centuries ago—I mean evangelize a largely pagan society and convert the pagans

“And as that kind of growth takes place, it will lead inevitably to the transformation of the contemporary culture into one that faithfully reflects Christ’s teaching as mediated by the Church.

“Primarily through her laity,” Pope John Paul II told the American bishops in 1987, “the church is in a position to exercise great influence upon American culture.”

“Then he asked, “But how is American culture evolving today? Is the evolution being influenced by the Gospel? Does it clearly reflect Christian inspiration?

“Your music, your poetry and art, your drama, your painting and sculpture, the literature that you are producing—are all those things which reflect the soul of a nation being influenced by the sprit of Christ for the perfection of humanity?” p. 25, 26

“Preaching” a Christian/Biblical Worldview to redeem culture; supporting and voting for conservative morality in the form of family/traditional/pro-life values; or spending massive amounts of money for such—NONE of this saves you from your own wicked deceitful heart; Nor does it nor can it make culture or society better.

The Lord Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross to rescue and redeem culture? NO! Jesus died on the cross (taking the punishment for all sin), so that people (individuals, YOU specifically) could be rescued, redeemed and freed from sin, darkness, and from this wicked world. Jesus Christ and repentance are to be preached, not culture or values.

God’s WORD

“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world…”
    —John 18:36

“…our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins,
that he might deliver us from this present evil world…”
    —Galatians 1:3, 4

“And that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in his name among all nations…”—Luke 24:47

“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord…”
    —2 Corinthians 4:5

“And from Jesus Christ…the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”—Revelation 1:5

Rather than proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who live in darkness, the ecumenical “religious” and “spiritual” leaders of our world are promoting transformation through culture. Many of these groups have political agendas, and have a major influence on our current government.

The Ecumenical/Common Good/Dialogue Way or Evangelization of culture with the help of Christian Worldview, Values, the Family
Through ecumenism/common good and focus on culture/values, Evangelicals, Methodists, Baptists, Orthodox, Reformed, Roman Catholics, Calvinists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Mormons, Moonies, and Muslims, the poor and the very wealthy (to mention some groups)—all can agree that society (culture) needs to have morals and values such as family, marriage, sanctity of life.

The Roman Catholic Church believes that the Eucharist is Jesus’ real body and real blood. As I have discussed in this Real Presence series, the RC Church believes the Eucharist is the center of worship, they are NOT going to change, and they are out to get YOU to agree with them so they can once again rule the world.

Any group that is ecumenical—including worldview and transforming culture, or focusing on pro-life, family values and/or the social gospel—is, whether they know it or not, participating in the Roman Church agenda.

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”—Ephesians 5:11

“In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.”—Psalm 143:2

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.”—Isaiah 29:13

“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

“If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

“For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”—2 John 9–11
