Dominion Theology and Reconstructionists

Dominion Theology is closely related to “reclaiming the Culture”, and another belief system, “Reconstuctionism.” By wresting the text of Genesis 1:26, this group justifies their agenda of taking dominion over the world system (culture, government, education, etc.) as a biblical mandate.

“And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.'”—Genesis 1:26

Does this verse sound like a mandate from God to the human race to take dominion over the world system: culture, education, government, people, money and power?

Satan, who is now the prince of this world, gained dominion over this present world system when Adam and Eve disobeyed God (See Genesis chapter 3). In the New Testament, Satan offered Jesus the kingdoms, their power and glory, if Jesus would worship Satan.

“And the devil, taking him [Jesus] up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, ‘All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.'”—Luke 4:5–7

Quoting scripture, Jesus rejected Satan’s offer:

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, ‘Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.'”—Luke 4:8

Could it be that Satan is still offering men the glory of the kingdoms of this world that Jesus rejected?

One day, Jesus will take dominion of what is rightfully His; but that isn’t our job as followers of Jesus Christ and of His Book.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.”
— Psalm 145:13

“And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
—Revelation 1:6

Biblical Worldview, Reclaiming our Culture

Christian Worldview and Biblical Worldview are quite the buzzwords these days. I initially heard them about eight years ago in the homeschool arena. Then I read about Biblical Worldview on Christian College sites and various Christian sites. Now I am seeing the phrase in many more so-called Christian areas—most recently the Awana site.

So what is wrong with a Christian or Biblical worldview?

This term indicates that Christians are responsible to make every area of the world system/culture that we live in, Christian—art should be Christian, our education should be Christian, our government should be Christian, our culture should be Christian, etc. Often you will hear the phrase, reclaiming our culture, associated with a Biblical Worldview.

Jesus did not come to save a culture. He never said anything about Christianizing the world we live in. Jesus did not send His disciples out to make the art or media world better, or have His disciples work on the education system so it would match up with the Bible or try to change the corrupt Roman government.

The world is unredeemable, but people aren’t. Jesus came to save people who are sinners and to rescue us out of this present evil world. When we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we read his Word and it changes our heart and our motives.

We’re not trying to clean up the world systems and culture. We are trying to live one on one in a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in this world where we are pilgrims and strangers until the Lord comes to take us to live forever in His Kingdom!!!

What does the BOOK say?

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”—1 John 5:19

“And he said unto them, ‘Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.'”—John 8:23

“Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world…'”—John 18:36

“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world…”—Galatians 1:4

Where is Truth?

The Truth Project site: thetruthproject.org is endorsed by
James Dobson and Ravi Zacharias.

Does this site tell you that Jesus is the Truth or that you can find the Truth by reading the Bible? I didn’t find it there.

Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”—John 14:6

No 12 one-hour DVDs expounding on some man’s agenda, and making him money.

No paying for workshops or conferences and travel expenses to get there.

What does Jesus say in the BOOK which is available to everyone?

“‘If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'”—John 8:31,32
